The League, based in Exeter, is an associate organisation affiliated to the Devon County LTA and currently provides competitive tennis for
29 clubs in the area. In the Summer Season there are 8 Divisions in the Men's Section and 6 Divisions in the Ladies Section - both playing doubles. In the winter months the hardy take over, playing
4 Divisions of Ladies doubles and 4 Divisions of Men's doubles.

District Winter Tennis League Guide for
Captains and Players

The Exeter & District Winter
Tennis League is moving to online management (using the LTA
system) for the 25-26 season. This will change some of the
administration requirements for team captains, in places, create a
one-off action for players, and change some of the league administrator
processes from ‘action’ to ‘monitor’.

The purpose of this document is to highlight the changes and
detail where responsibilities lie, along with hints, tips, common
problems (and how to solve them), and how the league will adopt the
changes. The key point to note is that there will be changes along the
way as we all learn how best to implement the changes to enable the
league to be run successfully. This relies on effective 2-way
communication, so please help us help you.
Players

Players are to have a British Tennis Membership (BTM) number.
This is also known as being registered with the LTA Advantage scheme. It
is a requirement from the LTA which has largely been ignored for a
number of years, but is being tightened up on. The League requires
players to be affiliated with their Club. This is all managed through
the LTA Advantage website (from their login, go to account
settings/account details/venues). If players haven’t updated their
profile for a while, there is a LTA requirement to confirm their gender
to conform with the LTA Transgender and Non-Binary Policy. When looking
for the summer season, it seems that some players have more than one
profile/BTM. It is recommended that they contact the LTA to merge their
profile. Players should inform their respective captains of the BTM
number before the season starts.
Captains

Captains should check that their players have a BTM, and when
registering their players with the League, should include the BTM with
their full name. The online league manager, Pete Smiley (petersmiley2@gmail.com),
will configure the league setup to enable captains to schedule matches
before the season starts. Captains will also be able to enter results
online. This should be done within the same timeframe as when copies of
the scorecard were being sent to Rosemary Browne. If teams require
another person to be able to enter results online, please contact the
league manager. I will investigate if captains can have the ability to
pre-load the system with their players. If so, this should highlight
when the registration and affiliation processes haven’t worked. If
players are not visible, captains should inform the respective players
and invite them to resolve the issue. If they cannot do it themselves,
then the LTA should be contacted; the league manager cannot do it for
them. Entering results is done via the LTA competitions portal. There
are lots of resources available at

, primarily under ‘User Manuals’ and ‘How to videos’. These show how to
enter results and other features. If a player is not registered, they
will not be visible to the captain entering the results. Until such time
that they are registered and affiliated, then they are to be entered as
‘Unknown Player’. League Administrators and Team Captains will be
informed. It will be the responsibility of the captain of the player to
communicate the issue to the player, and once resolved, the online
league manager should be informed. This should be completed within 7
days. If this is not possible, the league manager and league secretary
should be informed.
5. All other responsibilities of the team captain remain unchanged from the league rules as published.
